About
A conversation with materials that have their own ideas about what they want to be.
I’m a painter and writer offering products in the space between what I intended and what emerged.
I’m fascinated by the gap between performances and truth. The moments when what you’re doing refuses to match what you’re saying. The places where Southern Gothic sensibility and radical vulnerability have to occupy the same space.
Three years ago, I started making paintings about what it means to love something that might destroy you. About the courage required to choose suffering as an act of devotion. About the fact that sometimes the most honest thing you can do is make something beautiful while acknowledging it breaks you.
Disability determines how much I can work. My degree from Columbus State University in Technical Theater determines how I work. I want my work to reward investigation. It will tell you a lot if you let it. Thank you for taking the time.
